Hi, I’m Scott and this is my new podcast The City I Call Home.

The premise of the podcast is simple, I think that the best way to know a city is through its people.

In 2020, I challenged myself to run every street in Kitchener, Ontario. There are over 1600 main roads, back roads, alley ways, dead ends. Basically anything with a name, I ran it. It took me 8 months.

There was so much of the city I’ve never seen or really had any reason to see it.

And it got me to thinking, who lives there.
Or works there.
Or what do they do there.
So much of the city felt like a mystery to me.

The other side of it is I have a window that looks out onto the Iron Horse trail where because of the pandemic I have spent a lot of time. Which means I’ve seen hundreds of people walk, run or bike past. There’s this one lady, she’s older, and every day she walks her dog, regardless of the weather. But she doesn’t just walk her dog, she is dressed like the Pope’s in town, to the nines. Every day. And I keep thinking man, I would love to know her story.

And frankly, I start creating stories for people in my head.

So, I thought, why create fake stories when the real deal is always more interesting. And so, I started this podcast. I hope to talk to as many residents of Kitchener as I can. There’s no expectations of my guests, except they live in Kitchener. And then we’ll chat. About them, the things that interest them, and the city we share in common.

That’s it. That’s the podcast.

An exploration into a city through the stories of its people.

And so, I invite you to join me every week as I talk to someone new. If you live in Kitchener and are game to chat, send me a message on the website

Anyway, the first episode is dropping soon. I hope you’ll check it out.

Thanks for listening.
